Meet the Artist

Alan Maltz

The fine art of Alan S. Maltz graces private, public, and corporate collections throughout the United States, including the Center and Presidential Library in Atlanta, Georgia; Hallmark Cards, Inc., in Kansas City, Missouri; The American Airlines Arena, the NBC Miami Bureau, Carnival Cruise Lines, and BellSouth in Miami, Florida; Eaton Corporation in Woodbury, New York.

Maltz and his work have been featured in leading national and regional publications, including ARTnews, The New Yorker, The Robb Report, Booklist, Publishers Weekly, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Miami Herald, The New York Post, Newsday, and Florida Monthly, chose him as one of the “21 Intriguing Floridians.”

His acclaimed books have received numerous honors and recognition. Celebrities of Nature (1992) won “The Award of Excellence” from the Printing Industries of Florida. Both Key West Color (1995) and Miami City of Dreams (1997) were named “Best Coffee Table Book of the Year.” Florida…Beyond the Blue Horizon (2006) was introduced at the Governor’s Conference on Tourism by Governor Jeb Bush. VISIT FLORIDA recognized it as their “Official Coffee Table Book of Florida.” The Super Bowl Host Committee proclaimed Florida…Beyond the Blue Horizon as the “Official Coffee Table Book for Super Bowl XLI.” Signed editions were given to the Commissioner and all NFL team owners. His Next collection, Visions of Beauty…The Beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibal, makes its debut in 2008.

The Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau, in collaboration with the Lee County Port Authority, Commissioned Alan S. Maltz to create a permanent exhibition of sixty fine art images that reflect in spirit, the beauty and mystique found so abundantly in Lee County. These fine art limited edition pieces hang in large format at the New Midfield Terminal at the Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. Each work of art captures the allure of the area and celebrates the magic of everyday life in the natural world.

Established in January 1999, The Alan S. Maltz Gallery, located at 1210 Duval Street in Old Town, Key West, serves as Maltz’s spacious studio and features his cutting edge fine art, innovative framing designs and published works. In 2005 VISIT FLORIDA selected Mr. Maltz as their “Official Fine Art Photographer for the State of Florida.” Additionally in 2006, he was designated as “The Official Wildlife Photographer of Florida” by the Wildlife Foundation of Florida.

Alan and is family enjoy the tranquility of nature from their home in the lower Florida Keys.
