Mr. Nick Wiley, Secretary-Treasurer

As current Executive Director of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Nick Wiley has spent 21 years rising through the ranks of the state wildlife agency since his first day as a wildlife resource biologist in Lakeland. Over the years, he has headed the agency's Alligator Management Program, Small Game Management Section, Bureau of Wildlife Management and Division of Hunting and Game Management. In July 2008, Wiley moved into the post of assistant executive director for the FWC. FWC is responsible for rule-making, management, enforcement and research relative to fish and wildlife resources statewide. The Wildlife Foundation of Florida provides the FWC funding for projects that might not otherwise be possible.

Wiley is passionately dedicated to the conservation of fish and wildlife resources and an energetic advocate for getting youth outdoors and preserving our American heritage as anglers and hunters who live with and understand nature. As a researcher and field biologist, his work was primarily with terrestrial wildlife, but his personal interests include angling. Wiley also clearly understands the importance of the human-dimensions aspects of wildlife management. He has promoted hunting summits to bring in various stakeholders to discuss the future of hunting and incorporated solid research and marketing approaches to meet hunters' needs.

Wiley, who earned his master's degree in wildlife management from Auburn University in 1986 after earning his bachelor's in biology from Georgia Southern University in 1983, lives in Tallahassee with his wife, Evelyn, and sons, Duncan and Brooks.
