Hunter Safety Fund

Hunter Safety Fund Youth Hunting Program of Florida

The Hunter Safety Section of FWC runs the Youth Hunting Program of Florida, which offers youth hunts that are safe, educational and very affordable. We sponsor introductory, instructive youth hunts for deer, turkey, hogs, waterfowl, small game and other species.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and other concerned conservation organizations have joined forces to offer youth hunts that are safe, educational and very affordable. We sponsor introductory, instructive youth hunts for deer, turkey, hogs, waterfowl, small game and other species.

Mission:

The Youth Hunting Program of Florida was established to increase the number of youth involved in educational, safe, mentored wildlife and hunting activities through the opportunity to participate in the hunting heritage.

Our Goals:

  • Preserve the hunting heritage in Florida for present and future generations
  • Promote the highest ethical standards in hunting
  • Give our youth an initial, positive, safe, educational mentored hunting experience
  • Teach the basic skills, values, techniques and responsibilities of hunting
  • Instill in youth a basic understanding of practical conservation measures
  • Encourage wildlife habitat access, enhancement and management

Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center

The Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center, 30 miles east of Tallahassee, was created to preserve the tradition of ethical hunting and active conservation by introducing Florida's youth to the great outdoors. Beau Turner formed a partnership with the FWC to open the Center in March 2008.

The center, the first of its kind in Florida, encompasses 160 acres that Turner has leased to the FWC. The goal for the center is to develop a stewardship ethic among youth through programs designed to develop their outdoor skills and to instill an appreciation and knowledge of the longleaf pine ecosystem and wildlife management techniques.

The Hunter Safety account accepts donations on behalf of all its programs, working toward its goal of training safe, responsible and knowledgeable hunters.
