Ridge Rangers


Ridge Rangers Volunteer to Conserve Florida's Ancient Islands!

Join the team to help protect rare wildlife and plants found nowhere else on earth! Ridge Rangers are a group of dedicated volunteers helping to preserve the last remaining fragments of the Lake Wales Ridge. The Ridge is a highly endangered ecosystem running down the spine of the Florida peninsula. Ridge Rangers are individuals of all different ages, backgrounds and skills, with a common goal - to make a difference.

Ridge Rangers from all of Florida work on projects from Lakeland to Lake Placid, such as the following:

  • Rare Plant Searches
  • Land Steward
  • Scrub Jay Monitoring
  • Nesting Box construction
  • Trail Work
  • Promotional Activities
  • Habitat improvements
  • Animal and Rare Plant Monitoring
  • Native plant nursery
  • Scientific Data entry
